The King James – Perth’s Most Historic Pub
A warm Perth welcome awaits you here at the King James. We are a family run, independent bar brimming with history and hospitality.
The pub is built on the site of the ancient Blackfriars Friary and the only remains of this medieval building were recently discovered in the cellar of the pub. These ancient foundation stones date back to 1231 and are a link to a grisly event in Scottish history – the brutal murder of King James 1st, who was stabbed to death on this site in 1437. The foundation stones can be seen by visitors today through a section of glass floor in the bar! Read more about our important place in Scottish history here
We serve a compact menu of great bar meals done well! Our aim is to provide tasty and great value food in a relaxed and family friendly environment.
Our bar is well stocked and well kept – we offer a great range of premium beers, great scottish whiskies some fine gins and rums all served with premium mixers. We also do great coffees and stock a good selection of teas.
We love sport and have both SKY & BT Sports and show all premiership and Scottish matches. we also have regular live music events – please see our facebook page for details.
Billy, Helen and the team look forward to welcoming you soon
